STATEMENT FROM SOUTHERN WATER 18TH. MAY 2018 PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW TO CLARIFY THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES, Q/A'S AND COMPLAINT FORM ON FLOODING.

After PAGAM's successful Public Meeting at West Meads on the 18th. May 2018 where Nick Gibb MP, Karl Roberts ADC, Kia Trainor CPRE and Southern Water attended to field questions, we received a request from Southern Water that we might publish on our website information regarding where they stand with respect to ADC and Housing Developments and developers requests for connection to their services. There are 4 PDF's you can download, read or save/print out. The 4 PDF's ar as follows :

1.     The 2 page presentation by Southern Water shown at  the PAGAM Public Meeting, illustrates their responsibilities etc.

3.     A detailed resumee of questions that have been asked by ourselves (PAGAM), Pagham Parish Council and residents  over many issues which  clarifies where residents stand, and the detailed responses that SW give to Arun, the Developers and its customers. VOICING YOUR CONCERNS TO SOUTHERN WATER & WSCC .. THE WAY FORWARD 1st. OCTOBER 2018

Although many of you have written in letters of objection to the developers, it is now time to turn our attentions

to the organisations who provide services to the community.

The reasoning behind this is that respectively, WSCC and Southern Water have had an easy time of this so far, giving out very little information and generally being unavailable for comment when required.  Remember, they have the power to block developments if traffic has over capacity or safety issues, or if sewage cannot be disposed of safely, we need them to answer us on this, in the case of Southern Water, we are also asking if they would convene a public meeting to explain to us all why there is an apparent contradiction between what the developers say, and what they say ... it is very worrying and confusing for residents.

We therefore have links below to PDF's which will help you write letters to these organisations

1.         WSCC lead letter to print out, see instructions below.

2.         Southern Water lead letter to print out, see instructions below.

3.         Crib sheet to help with above letters

CLICK HERE  >>>>>>>>>>>>>     https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/4b918df8-05d7-434b-910f-cdbcd3213b69

Open the two PDF attachments (numbers 1 and 2) above, click on them and then print after opening, and you are ready to go.  PS. The third PDF (number 3) is a crib sheet to remind you of our comments, please read as well

Our advice is then to either hand write your accompanying letter onto a blank sheet of paper OR complete a letter on your PC using Microsoft Word or similar, print it and then attach to the top copy. Remember your letter should only be about either traffic issues, accidents, lorries etc. in the case of WSCC or sewage, flooding etc. in the case of Southern Water.   Make sure you fill in your name, address, postcode (top right space), date and sign ready to send off. (to the address in the top left area of those letters)

We would like to think that you could cc. to at least 1 other person, your choice to maximise the impact of your letters, but do appreciate the extra work involved but feel it would be worth it.  Very important, please keep copies for your own records, also useful if other letters are to be written and will remind you of your concerns and objections

WHO YOU COULD COPY TO AND THEIR STATUS ....

WSCC letters initially addressed to Mr. Ian Gledhill, people who would count below....

Nick Gibb MP   Obviously your local MP who needs to be aware of your strength of feeling.

Councillor Roger Elkins  He is the Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Highways in WSCC, a very important post as he can lead and make decisions regarding  our local road networks.  He appears to have been keeping a low profile and we believe should be made aware of our concerns.

Louise Goldsmith  Well known for being the leader of WSCC and at the forefront of the A27 fiasco which resulted in £250 million funding being withdrawn by the Government,  due to a failure by WSCC in  not deciding a route or measures to relieve the pressure on the A27 at Chichester.

Southern Water letters initially addressed to Mr. T. Clark, people who would count below ....

Nick Gibb MP                       Same as WSCC above ...

Louise Goldsmith   Responsible for the team at WSCC which under the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 requires county councils to lead the co-ordination of flood risk. They are the Lead Local Authority (LLFA) for the area. Produced in 2013 (after the 2012 flooding !!) they focus on flooding from surface water, groundwater and watercourses, and flooding from rivers and the sea.  They clarify which authority is responsible for what in relation to that management.
