UPDATE (29/7/19) ON HOOK LANE (NEW APPLICATION) P/30/19/OUT

We have been informed like many of you through the post that this application for Hook Lane, will take place on the 7th. August 2.30pm. at ADC's Council Chambers in Littlehampton. Remember this is a cynical attempt by Hallam the developer to hijack the actual Government Planning Inquiry which is booked for late October this year (actually for P/6/17/OUT) which we abhor.  Hallam know if they can get this through, then the Inquiry is scuppered.  Ironically, ADC Planning Officers have encouraged this application as it's not against the law, you could keep re-submitting although at £32,152 per application, it would be an expensive way to chance your arm.  But this surely shows how desperate Hallam are to get this through

Our reaction and plea to you all who live in Pagham, Aldwick and surrounding area's is for you to attend this meeting in Littlehampton if at all possible as it is a lynchpin in Pagham's history and could have a knock on impact on the other developments if it was refused and allowed to proceed for judgement to the Govt. Planning Inquiry in October 2019.

REMEMBER .....

THE RESIDENTS OF PAGHAM AND ALDWICK SURPASSED OUR WILDEST EXPECTATIONS WHEN THEY ATTENDED THE PLANNING MEETING ON THE 24TH. OCTOBER 2018 AT LITTLEHAMPTON, OVER 150 ATTENDEES STATED BY THE BOGNOR POST, WE NEED TO REPEAT THIS WITHOUT FAIL AND SHOW THE NEW COUNCILLORS WE ARE BEHIND THEM, AND MUST PRESERVE PAGHAM'S STATUS AS A SMALL VILLAGE.

Please email us for assistance with transport if it is an issue, do not let that put you off attending such an important meeting.

URGENT...URGENT....CHURCH BARTON HOUSE DEVELOPMENT

89 DWELLINGS.....PLEASE READ ON

In the middle of the week,  two  sharp eyed supporters (Teresa Stokes and Nigel Mundy ... thank you for that) noticed a new Planning Application on the Arun website. This is for 89 homes at Church Barton House, Horns Lane, Pagham PO21 4NZ. We had only heard vague rumours about this, so were taken completely aback over this development. The Planning No. is P/25/17/OUT for those who wish to explore this more fully.

It comprises 8 bungalows, 24 * 2 bedroom houses, 29 * 3 bedroom houses, 20 * 4 bedroom houses, 4 * 2 bedroom flats and 4 * 1 bedroom flats. It closes in a gap at the back and roughly half way along the existing Bartons Farm development.

Residents in Summer Lane should be suitably angry over this as the entry and exit from this site will be West along Horns Lane, then right onto Summer Lane and emerge at Pagham Road. Letters and comments for this site in theory in by the 27th. April 2017 which leaves little time to complain although the same criteria still apply.

Addendum to the above statement (August 20128) ...... This application was amended whereby the quota of housing was reduced to 65, and a change to the plans showed an entrance road from the main Hanbury (Pagham Rd. site) exiting into the Church Barton site thus removing the need to use Horns Lane and Summer Lane.

NOW FOR SOME POSITIVE highlights to think about ....

On Monday the 27th. March 2018, it has been reported that housing minister Gavin Barwell hosted a meeting at Westminster with Nick Gibb MP, Karl Roberts, Arun Councillors Ricky Bower and John Charles, and Yapton resident Vicky Newman to discuss the Councils Local Plan. Cynically, no-one from the Pagham area or its councillors were invited (as if). What is more important is the following statement that Nick Gibb made and I quote .......

People in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton are very concerned about the number of speculative house building applications that are being submitted by house building companies while the Local plan is still to be confirmed.

We all support plans for more houses to help ensure people are able to buy a home and to help young people onto the property ladder. We need to ensure that the location of these new homes is planned in a way that is sustainable and which ensures that grade A agricultural land is protected and strategic gaps are maintained.”

Mr. Barwell said national planning policy was designed to protect both strategic gaps and prime agricultural land. The plan envisages 1000 homes a year being built until 2031.

So at long last I can sleep at night as all the developments are on prime agricultural land and are null and void, OR was Mr. Roberts out of the room when this was said ?

Stay awake for the next gem ......

It was reported (again) the following ....

Southern Water has defended its 55 "emergency releases" of diluted wastewater in Pagham Harbour since 2011, but stated it "currently cannot accommodate" the additional demand planning applications for the area would put on its systems.

The latter statement features in the consultation report for plans to build 400 dwellings on land off Summer Lane and Pagham Road (P/140/16/OUT)

And guess what, the new planning application mentioned at the start of this article stated it would connect to the Summer Lane treatment works via a 250m dedicated  sewage pipe, or so they think.

What do you all think about this ....?
